Come play with us… We have 2 National Championships and 4 Provincial Championships in just 8 years.
All of our teams have finished in Division 1 since 2013!
Hurricanes Volleyball is a welcoming club for girls from 10 to 18 years old that want to play volleyball post secondary.
The club volleyball season is September through April. Practices are weekday evenings; tournaments are on weekends. The season culminates in the National Championships in which all teams participate during mid to late May (after Provincial Championships in April). The finish to our season is a club banquet in June before beach volleyball starts in the summer. We are one of only a select few clubs that offers beach training for all athletes as part of the indoor club fee. We have our own sand courts (4) behind our training facility in Burlington.
Indoor teams compete in divisions according to their birth year, not their grade. Athletes must attend the open tryouts for their own age division if they want the opportunity to play for the Hurricanes. Tryouts are in September each year and dates and times will be posted by August.
We provide athletes of all abilities with excellent training in the fundamentals of technical and tactical volleyball skills and take dedicated athletes to the elite level with extensive training. We offer specific training for setters as well as strength and conditioning and mental training. Teams participate in volleyball tournaments organized by Ontario Volleyball (OVA) and Volleyball Canada (VC) as well as US tournaments (AAU, JVA, USAV).
Athletes must be regularly available for both weeknight practices and weekend tournaments. All schedule conflicts must be discussed with the team coach, and may or may not be acceptable, depending on the effect on the team. We do our best to accommodate multi-sport athletes, as we believe in cross training.
Team fees vary depending on age group. Halton Region Volleyball Club is a non-profit organization. Club fees cover: gym rentals, equipment (balls/nets/specialized volleyball training aids/med kits), tournament fees (including Qualifiers, Provincial Championships, National Championships and some US tournaments), OVA & Volleyball Canada memberships, specialty training (fitness & mental), coach honorariums (travel), banquet and administration. Fees do not include: uniform or travel-related costs such as transportation, hotel, and food.
All coaches and club administrators are volunteers and we are a registered not for profit organization.
There are a limited number of bursaries available for players who require financial assistance.
