HRVC Signings Nov 2017

Maggie Greenfield, a 5’11” middle from Woodstock Ontario, will be heading to Gannon University in Erie Pennsylvania.  Excited to play indoor volleyball as a Lady Knight for Gannon, Maggie is equally as thrilled to have received early acceptance to the Ross 4+4 Accelerated M.D. Bachelor Degree program.  Maggie has represented Team Ontario twice (2017, 2106) and was an alternate at age 14 on the Region 3 15U team playing at the Ontario Winter Games (2014).  She has played senior volleyball for her high school since her freshman year, where her team won WOSSAA AA Gold and OFSAA AA Bronze (2015).  Maggie was a two-time OVA Award of Excellence recipient and a 16U OVA All-Star.  Major on court achievements include 14U West National Silver, 15U Canadian National Bronze and a 16U Ontario Provincial Silver.  “I chose Gannon because it was the perfect fit both in volleyball and academically.  Not only do I get to play highly competitive volleyball for a top school, they support my dreams of becoming a surgeon through the accelerated M.D. program – it truly is the best of both worlds!  The coach and team feel like family and Erie feels like home.”

Laura Madill, a 5”11” left-handed setter from Oakville Ontario, will join the University of San Diego (USD) in southern California after many successful years in high performance and club volleyball.   In 2016, Laura represented Canada on its Junior National Team, competing against international teams at the USAV HP Tournament, NORCECA division.  A provincially carded Quest for Gold athlete, she has played for Team Ontario twice (2015, 2017 Canada Games Team) and is currently a member of Team Ontario Elite.  Her achievements include being a three-time National Champion, two-time National MVP, National All-Star, two-time OVA All-Star and 2017 Provincial Champion, along with being a captain at HRVC for the past four years.  “I am thrilled to be joining USD’s top ranked Division I volleyball program with its excellent coaches and facilities.  It will help me take my game to the next level and support my goal of competing on the National Team in the future.  As well, I’m excited to start my studies in engineering at USD, which features small class sizes and was just rated by Princeton Review as the most beautiful campus in the nation.”

Vanessa Roscoe, a 5’11” member of the Team Ontario Beach team, will be heading to San Luis Obispo, California where she will be competing for California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) in beach volleyball.   A resident of Burlington, Ontario, Roscoe is a stand out in both indoor and beach volleyball.  On the court, she has won three National Championships, one Provincial title, and was a member of Team Ontario in 2016. On the beach, Vanessa has medalled in every Provincial or National beach competition she has entered over the past three years. She was a gold medallist at both the 2015 and 2016 Volleyball Canada National Beach Championships. Her provincial medals include 2016 16U and 18U silvers, and a 2017 youth division silver. Vanessa was an alternate in 2016 for the U17 FIVB World Championships Selection Tournament.  “I chose Cal Poly because my ultimate goal is to get to the Olympics and with such an amazing and experienced coach (ex-Olympian Todd Rogers), I know I can get there.  I also love the friendly atmosphere there.”  She plans to study communications with a minor in marketing.
